February 28...Day 33

Audrey rolled over for the first time today--first from back to tummy (like in this picture), then from tummy to back. More about this on my other blog: http://www.lifewiththesheltons.blogspot.com/

February 27...Day 32

Sometimes Maggie thinks she's a person and sits up on two legs instead of four. Silly dog!

Audrey got a surprise visit from Grandma tonight!!

February 25...Day 30

Tonight our small group was in charge of cooking dinner for our Wednesday night program at church. We made spaghetti, and had to use this old, scary stove to cook it! I'm pretty impressed that you can see the steam rising out of the boiling pots in this picture.

February 24...Day 29

As I was sorting through Audrey's clothes tonight, two questions came to mind.

Q1. Why do such a little girl need so many clothes, especially when she will outgrow them all in a matter of months?

A1. I'm to blame for this one. I really like all the baby girl clothes and have been a little addicted to buying clearance clothes lately. And it's not even garage sale season yet!!

Q2. How in the world am I supposed to keep all of these clothes organized?

A2. I'm still looking for answer to that question. I get everything neatly organized, but by the next day it's all a mess again.

February 23...Day 28

Tonight I taught a class about how to use this machine, The Big Shot. It's a die cutting machine that can cut out all kinds of fun things. The trouble is that there is SO much this machine can do. I spent forever preparing for this class, making samples and trying to figure out what to explain and demonstrate. I ended up talking for about 75 minutes straight about this machine (I know they were probably bored to death in my class!)...I'm very tired now.

February 22...Day 27

Yay for Slumdog Millionaire winning Best Picture! It was definitely my favorite movie of the year!

February 21...Day 26

I really need to do more scrapbooking...especially now that I have such an adorable subject to photograph! I am completely in love with this page that I made today!

February 20...Day 25

So I'm probably not a very nice mom for taking a picture of my daughter when she is screaming. But it's a good summary of our day today. We found out she has an ear infection, so at least there is a reason for all the unhappiness.

February 19...Day 24

Play Date!
Audrey and I have been getting together with some of my friends who are also at home with little ones. It is always nice to get together with other moms and babies--a refreshing break from the regular daily routine. Today--Simon, Elliot and Hannah (and Lindsey and Mary Ann) came over to our house to play. This is Audrey (almost 4 months old) with Elliot (almost 1 month old). The 3 months that separates them seems like a big age gap right now, but soon we won't notice any age difference between them at all.

February 18...Day 23

Tonight I taught the 3rd week of a class on Galatians at our Wednesday night church program. I have only had 2 people in my class, so that's a little awkward. But they keep coming back, so I guess they have enjoyed it or at least learned something. I even pulled out my Greek New Testament to use in tonight's class.

February 17...Day 22

A really expensive scale
I really wanted a Wii and a Wii Fit. So now we have one. And I really like it, but as is the case with most people, we really don't use it that often. In fact, we pretty much just use the Wii Fit to weigh ourselves and that's about it. We could do that with the cheap little scale in our bathroom. But it doesn't have little cartoon people that get skinnier or fatter as your weight changes like the Wii Fit does.

February 16...Day 21

What a mess!!

I was working in the basement tonight, getting ready for my stamp clubs, and decided that I need to hire someone to come and clean up after me as I stamp and make projects. I love the fun of creating things, but I hate to clean up afterwards. And this is only 1 of my 2 messy tables. I love that I have my own space in the basement, so it can stay messy and doesn't have to be cleaned up right away.

February 15...Day 20

Somebody was being very cute and happy at bathtime tonight!!

February 14...Day 19

Daniel finally seems to be better. So we left Audrey with a sitter and he took me out for a movie this afternoon. Normally if we get popcorn at the movies we would share. But since he was sick, we didn't want to share...so we spent $15 to get 2 small drinks and 2 child size popcorns. Ridiculous! It would have been cheaper to get a combo and share, but I'm still trying to avoid whatever germs he may have.
So we saw the most depressing movie (though I still liked it)--Revolutionary Road. Daniel commented afterward that they shouldn't even be allowed to show the movie on Valentine's Day. But it was a welcome break from a stressful week. Plus after seeing the stress in the relationship of the couple in the movie, it made our stressful week seem not so bad.

February 13...Day 18

I was playing around with the self timer on the camera today but my battery died in the process and this was the only picture I got. Not the greatest picture of either of us...Audrey was crying and I look very tired (that's definitely a fake smile). But that's how it's been today. She's been fussy, and I've been trying to maintain my sanity (and not doing so well at times). So I think the caption for this picture should be, "Daddy please get better soon. We need you!!"

February 12...Day 17

Audrey and I have been locked away upstairs in our house since Tuesday evening while Daniel is sick downstairs. We've been trying to stay away from his germs. So Audrey has been spending a lot more time than normal playing in her crib and staring at this mobile. Hopefully Daddy is better VERY soon!!

February 11...Day 16

I really love Netflix. It's one of my favorite things (and it was even more of my favorite before Audrey was born and I was home all the time with nothing to do). I don't watch as many movies as I used to, but I still enjoy watching them. I'm especially excited about the movie inside this envelope today--a childhood favorite of mine, Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken. Due to church tonight and Lost, I probably won't be able to watch it until tomorrow...so Sonora Webster and the diving horses will just have to wait until then.

February 10...Day 15

I should have taken this picture earlier in the day...the sun was going down by the time I got around to taking it. The high today was 66 degrees! And it's February! I love this warm weather. Unfortunately, I don't think I took the time to really enjoy the warm weather today...and I don't think we'll get another warm day like this for a while. Good thing we are taking a vacation to Florida in a few weeks!

February 9...Day 14!

Valentine's Day Photo Shoot

This outfit is from Daniel's parents. I took some pictures of her wearing it this morning and I'm going to make a little present for them (hopefully they don't read this blog or it won't be a surprise present!).

February 8...Day 13

Red Week: My friends Kellie and Amy are also doing daily picture blogs, and we all decided that in honor of Valentine's Day this is going to be Red Week. We're going to try to take pictures of something red each day. With that said, my picture today is not exclusively red, but there are some red items in it.
So today I decided to be a bargain grocery shopper. Here are some of the groceries I bought (I tried to focus on the items that had red in them). I bought the Sunday paper, clipped coupons and studied the weekly ads to find the best deals. I ended up going to 2 grocery stores, County Market and Meijer, to take advantage of the best sales on things I needed to buy.
I'm trying a new method of grocery shopping. I used to pride myself on only buying exactly what we needed each week, so that by the end of the week our fridge and freezer were completely bare. I'm now trying to do a better job of stocking up on items that are on sale, even if I don't need them that specific week.
So, today I didn't feel like I got any super fantastic deals, but between buying items on sale and using coupons, I saved about $24. I only used a fraction of the coupons I clipped; the rest I am saving for a time when those items are on sale. That's the best time to use the coupons because it's like getting a double deal. It took me about 3 hours from the time I started going through the ads to the time I got everything put away back home. Worth it? I think it will be after a while...eventually I should have a well stocked kitchen and won't have to buy as many things each week. We'll see how well I keep it up though.

February 7...Day 12

Washington Park Outing
This afternoon Daniel and I took Audrey for her first walk in the park. It was a lot of fun and a gorgeous afternoon--65 degrees!! I tried to take lots of pictures of things we saw along our walk, but I didn't end up with any pictures that were really that exciting. I chose this one, because I liked the partially frozen water at the top and the way the sunlight was hitting the water.

February 6...Day 11

Friday Night Fun

It is really difficult to get a picture of 3 kids this young...this one is the best that I got. Wesley wins the award for the best smile. Cael wins the award for moving around the most. Audrey wins the award for being the cutest girl!

February 5...Day 10

This was our dinner tonight. I'm not a big meat eater, so rarely do we have a big beef meal like pot roast or steak. Poor Daniel, he would probably prefer more meals like this. Since the roast was on sale at the grocery store this week, I figured I would try to cook a roast. It was pretty good...but still not my favorite thing to eat.

February 4...Day 9

Tonight we had a Hawaiian Beach Party at church. I wish it was warmer and we would have dressed Audrey in her swimsuit and beach gear. But it was too cold, so we settled for a brightly colored sweater and hat. Then we forced her to pose with the pineapples. We also gave her a Hawaiian name: Aukohkohli.

February 3...Day 8

This picture of my feet symbolizes 2 things about today: 1. I'm getting ready to put my feet up and relax right on the couch right now. Audrey is asleep for the moment at least. I've got a blanket, some popcorn and lemonade and a good book. Sounds good! 2. These slippers are a lifesaver in our house right now. It's freezing today (I wouldn't really know that because I haven't been outside today, but I can tell by how cold it is in our house). These slippers keep my feet warm on our freezing cold floors...and they're cute!

February 2...Day 7

As I was teaching piano lessons this evening, I was reminded (as I am every time our piano has been played recently) that our piano needs to be tuned. You know our piano is out of tune if I am noticing it, because I am not the best at hearing what is in or out of tune unless its obvious. This is very obvious; it sounds horrible. Sometimes I don't know if my students are playing a wrong note or if it is just our out of tune piano. The sad thing is that we recently paid $70 to have our piano tuned...and it's worse now than it was before!

February 1...Day 6

Super Bowl Party!!This photo is also a game...how many babies can you find??
