I'm taking a photography class at church, and tonight we used some of our babies as models. I love this picture because it shows the different personalities of Audrey and her friend Elliot. It was a lot of stimulation for the babies. There were about 10 people flashing pictures and trying to get them to smile and look at their camera. Elliot just sat there and posed and smiled and was perfectly calm the whole time. Audrey doesn't handle stressful/scary situations in such a calm manner...

September 26...Day 243
A couple of things about this picture:
#1: Audrey has been very interested in pictures these days (she takes after her mom in that way!). We've been looking through photo albums, and she also really likes the picture in this frame. Occasionally, when you ask her "where is mommy/daddy?" she will point to the picture, though I'm not sure that she always points to the correct person. She is getting so smart!! I have been amazed over the past couple of weeks at how much she understands when we talk to her.
#2: I was excited to put Audrey in PJ's for the first time in a long time. Her room is very hot in the summer, so she has been sleeping in just a onesie every night. It's cooler tonight, so I pulled out the PJ's. I got these at a garage sale last weekend, and little did I know that they were extra special PJ's. When I turned off the lights in Audrey's room to put her to bed, these PJ's started to glow in the dark!!

September 25...Day 242
I wanted to take a picture of Audrey with the new maracas that I found for her at a garage sale today. She thought they were pretty cool when I first gave them to her inside the house. Then I brought her outside (because I wanted to take a picture in natural light) and the maracas were old news. The leaves on the ground were much more interesting!!

September 23...Day 240
Look at this cute, snuggly dog. So loving, so lovable. Her favorite thing is to curl up on the couch right next to you. She may have her annoying moments, but she more than makes up for those moments by being so sweet and snuggly at night time.
(A special note to those in the Springfield area...if you would like to spend some quality time with this loving dog, we're looking for someone to watch her from October 13-17 while we are out of town! )

This is the remote that controls our DVR...the most wonderful invention ever! Tonight I'm watching Dancing with the Stars. It started at 7 and ended at 9, but I didn't get home from a meeting until 7:45. No problem...I started watching it at 8 and am going to finish it at about 9:25...being able to fast forward through all the commercials and through all the annoying talking of Tom and Samantha.

September 20...Day 237
This little puppy has been the hit toy of the day. Audrey found it in her room this morning and wouldn't let it go. So we brought it to church with us. At church, Cael saw the puppy in my bag and got to play with it for a while. Then tonight at small group, the puppy made its way back out...and Cael was very happy to see it again. Such a popular puppy!!

September 19...Day 236
We went to a friend's birthday party tonight. We left the party about an hour after Audrey's normal bed time, and she crashed as soon as we got in the car and even stayed asleep when we got her out of the car at home. Both Daniel and I agree--having her sleep on your shoulder is the best! Too bad it is such a rare occurence these days!

Y is for...Yikes! Audrey tried to crawl up the stairs today. Up until today, she had not paid any attention to the stairs. But she discovered them today and immediately tried to climb up them. While I was standing nearby ready to help her, she made it up two stairs all by herself. Yikes...I'm not ready for her to be climbing the stairs yet, especially our scary hardwood stairs!
I have fallen down these stairs a few times. Maggie falls down them several times a week and often refuses to come down them for fear of falling. So, I'm not ready for Audrey to fall down them yet. Shortly after we took this picture, Audrey and I made a trip to the store for a baby gate to block off this staircase. We'll help her learn to go up and down on the carpeted basement stairs and wait to tackle these big, scary, hard stairs when she is older.
(This picture is a re-enactment of Audrey climbing the stairs for the first time. I cropped Daniel out of the picture, but he was nearby supervising Audrey. I didn't just send her up the stairs alone while I took pictures....just so you know!)

V is for...Very Best Friends! Ok, they may not be very best friends, but Audrey is starting to be more friendly with Steve. For a while, she didn't want to have anything to do with Steve or Amy. We've been trying to teach her that the Miller's aren't really that bad...and Audrey is now starting to warm up a little to both of them!
P.S. I have no idea why Steve is making a face in this picture..but it was the only picture I got of Steve holding Audrey, so it will have to work for today!

September 12...Day 229
U is for...Up, as in Audrey raising her hand up in the air. When she is standing up, she will raise her hand up in the air (like she is at school and wants to ask a question) when she wants you to come and help her walk somewhere. If you don't come right away, she gets more and more urgent in her hand raising and facial expression...just like the kid at school who is SO eager to be called on. It cracks me up every time!

September 11...Day 228
T is for...tons of crazy fun! Tonight was the Worship Ministry Appreciation banquet at church. For the past 2 years, Daniel has done a party called "Out of the Box." The idea is that each table comes up with their own theme for the night, decorating their table and wearing costumes and such. This year, our theme was a wedding reception. We had a wedding party table and a wedding guest table. It was the craziest wedding you could ever imagine. Amy played the role of the old lady guest...and provided much entertainment throughout the evening.

September 10...Day 227
S is for...Sophie the giraffe (and sweet babies!). This is Elliot. He is the sweetest little guy. I babysat him for a little bit today and could not resist taking some pictures of him. He is so photogenic. He was a big fan of Sophie le Giraffe. Sophie was a gift to Audrey from my friend Katy. Since receiving Sophie, I have found out that she is a pretty popular toy! Audrey has been quite fond of Sophie...even Maggie the dog likes Sophie and tries to play with her when we are not watching. Who would have thought that a little rubber giraffe could be so much fun?

September 9...Day 226
R is for...reading! If you've read this blog or know me at all, you know that reading is one of my favorite things! Hopefully, Audrey will enjoy reading books as much as I do! So far, she seems to be quite fond of reading and looking at books (and she's pretty good at trying to pull the pages out too!).

September 8...Day 225
Q is for...Quarter Quell! Really, that's what I meant to type. I finished a very good book today (Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, the 2nd book in the Hunger Games series). A major event in this book is the Quarter Quell games (you'll have to read the books to find out what that is!). Since I was on the lookout for Q words today, this Q alliteration jumped out at me. It's not too often that you run into a Q alliteration, and I thought this would be perfect for Q day!

September 7...Day 224
P is for...peas! Audrey is starting to warm up to eating peas. She absolutely hated the pureed baby food peas and would not have anything to do with them. She wasn't so sure about eating whole peas at first, but she seems to be liking them better now. She also figured out that Maggie likes peas (and Cheerios and whatever else she happens to be eating!). Audrey has discovered the wonders of feeding Maggie her food from the high chair. The two of them think it is a pretty fun game; Daniel and I are not as amused!

September 6...Day 223
O is for...Orders. A bunch of us went over to the Millers tonight for homemade quesadillas. Katie and Amy had a good idea for keeping us organized while making so many quesadillas. Katie took everyone's "orders" and wrote them down on post it notes. Then she put the post it notes on the cabinets above the quesadilla makers so we could see what each person wanted while making their quesadilla. It was a great plan, and I think everyone got their quesadilla just the way the ordered it!

September 5...Day 222
N is for...Nail-biting and Nerve-wracking tennis! I really enjoy watching tennis. I stink at playing the game, but I do enjoy watching it. With Direct TV, I have been able to watch just about any match of the US Open that I wanted to this week. This afternoon I started watching the Andy Roddick/John Isner match. It was still going on when the Millers and Justin came over tonight, and I just had to know how it was going to end, so we casually kept watching. By the end (almost 4 hours after it started), it was extremely close and was making me (and I think Justin too, nobody else seemed to care) a little nervous. This picture (not a very good one, but it's all I have tonight) is of the final score...I was sad that Roddick lost, but I do enjoy watching a close match!

September 4...Day 221
M is for...Maggie. I took over 100 pictures of Maggie playing outside this afternoon. This was one of about 3 pictures that I liked from that batch. I was trying to get a picture of Maggie in motion. Amy and I are taking a photography class at church, and Crista suggested that we photograph an object in motion to learn more about shutter speed. I took a lot of pictures of Maggie in motion, but she was too fast for me and I didn't like the way any of them turned out. It was much easier to get a decent picture when she stopped to take a break!

J is for...Jumper. I remember buying this jumper for Audrey when she was just 4 months old. Six months later, she still enjoys it...but now she prefers to be outside of the jumper rather than in it. She likes to hold onto it and bounce it with her hands. In this picture, she is showing her excitement by waving at the camera and making her favorite face!
